COVID-19 Catch Up Premium

In June, a £1 billion fund for education was announced by the government.  Schools should use this funding for specific activities to support pupils to catch up for lost teaching time over the previous months. Further guidance has now been released (https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-catch-up-premium) showing that the money is split between a catch-up premium and a national tutoring scheme.

The catch-up premium is funded on a per pupil basis at £240 per place based on high needs places for the 2020 to 2021 academic year (92) = £22,080

This will be received In 3 instalments - in autumn 2020, 'early 2021' and summer 2021

  •  A total of £140 per place across payments 1 and 2
  • - Payment 1 = £6,440 and payment 2 £6,440
  •  A total of £100 per place for payment 3
  • - Payment 1 = £9,200

To support schools to make the best use of the funding, the EEF has published a support guide: https://educationendowmentfoundation.org.uk/covid-19-resources/covid-19-support-guide-for-schools/#nav-covid-19-supportguide-for-schools1

The below document details the TJA Catch up action plan with proposed catch up premium funding expenditure

As with all government funding, school leaders and governors must be able to account for how the money is being used. Therefore, the impact and spending strategy for this catch-up premium will be reviewed at every Governing body meeting throughout the 2020-2021 academic year.
